In fact, the character Ilsa Lund (played by Ingrid Bergman) says, “Play it, Sam, for old time’s sake, play as time goes by.” Later in the movie, Rick Blaine (played by Humphrey Bogart) says, “You played it for her, you can play it for me. If she can stand it, I can! Play it!”
